Update (sort of...)

Image
Hello,
it has been too long since my last post to this blog. I think that I've had a severe knitter's block (similar to writer's block) in doing everything. I started knitting again this past week and the progress is astonishingly slow, but my projects are getting down slowly.
Also I had all kinds of obstacles like with my new projects: my cable knitting needle was missing (found it exactly where it was supposed to be), run out of filling (can't finish my new pattern without it and also I've lost some notes from that pattern too, took me almost an hour to count all stitches and try to write pattern down again) and I borrowed my sewing machine to my lil sis, and it is still wtih her.
And I really need to buy new cotton yarn, I don't have enough bright colours (like that is actually boring, to go and buy new yarn). What I learnt is that: remeber to check your needle case when looking for a knitting needle and when writing down a patttern, hit the save-button ofte…

Land of amigurumi

Image
Hello,

Spring is finally here, at least I can see flowers starting to bloom, while walking back from work.
We visited Japan few weeks ago and it was super amazing. Commuting from place to place was done by trains/metro, so I had time to do some crocheting there. And hey, where does the word amigurumi come from?
Where I live, you can get as cute phone decorations or clothes as in Japan (that is my personal opinion and not a fact). People were friendly, eating out was probably cheaper than in Finland and we don't have that many Sakura flowers in Finland. I didn't know that there were so many different colors of Sakura flowers.
Mostly I made small amigurumis and gave them to people we met. These two are probably my favourites: a duck and a cat. I'll post the pattern next week(at least I try)

Old ideas

Hello,

I've graduated from university and started working, and I already miss lectures (even the boring ones) and I've just realised how much I still have to learn and keep on learning.
It has been a task to find time to knit, going to work at 8 a.m and being back home at 16.30 and then cooking, household tasks and so on... It is quite a change in life.

This past month had a very cold weather and I had to dig up from the bottom of my parents' closet my knitted socks and I got an inspiration to pick up knitting needles after a while.

I've had an idea to knit  a lizard for about 10 years now and I thought that it would be challenging enough for this week. I didn't have a plan for on how to make the hands (or the 15 yr old me couldn't figure it out). My first sketch was green, but I didn't have that colour. So after a quick google search I decided on orange.

I had to reknit hands at least 6 times and thumbs are still missing (I figured out how to do that while…

Hello,
I have had a long break from posting, but at least I have pretty good explanations about it, we had our finals this year and try going through all the things that have been thaugth to you during these past four years, that's a lot of studying to do. And most of the evenings your'e just so tired that you can't motivate yourself to do anything except a little jogging.

But now I had a two week holiday and it was bliss, I had time to do shopping and use my dress fabrics I bought months ago.
I really like dresses, always like the and now that I had a holiday I had every reason to make them. And I found our local fabric shop. It is so cute and small, but I love these countryside fabricshops, stacked with fabrics from floor to ceiling and the atmosphere is just special.
But for the dresses:
I'm quite happy with them actually, I made one for parties, one for work and one is for next spring/summer. I still have two fabrics to use, one asian style silk and one summerdress…
