Miss Autumn - Doll pattern (free)

Hello,

I love dolls, I loved them when I was a kid, especially ragdolls and newborn babydolls. Not that I really played with them, but I liked collecting them and maybe that is one reason why I started creating amigurumis. And now I have a huge collection of amigurumis done during these past 10 years. I can't believe it, but I've had my blog and Ravelrypage now for about 10 years, so for that reason I decided to publish these notes for a crocheted doll.
I'm quite happy with the result, I don't usually do toys this big (sheäs about 35cm I guess). I wanted to name her Miss Autumn, because we had a very beautiful autumn colours in Finlanf this year.
These are just my notes that I quickly wrote down and the pattern isn't tested, but I hope these quick notes help you to create a nice doll.
I spent the past week trying and thinking different styles for hair and this is what I ended up with, not the prettiest but I guess ok.

Head (make 1 with skin colour yarn)
Ch2, 6sc to 2nd ch from the hook.

1)      2sc in each sc
2)      [2sc, 1sc] repeat to end
3)      [2sc, 1sc x2] repeat to end
4)      [2sc, 1sc x3] repeat to end.
5)       [2sc, 1sc x4] repeat to end
6)      [2sc, 1sc x5] repeat to end
7)      [2sc, 1sc x6] repeat to end.
8)      [2sc, 1sc x8] repeat to end.
9) [2sc, 1sc x9] repeat to end.
10) [2sc, 1sc x10] repeat to end.

11– 20) sc around
21)   [sc-dec, 1sc x10] repeat around
22)   [sc-dec, 1sc x8] repeat around
23)   [sc-dec, 1sc x9] repeat around
24)   [sc-dec, 1sc x7] repeat around
25)   [sc-dec, 1sc x6] repeat around
26)   [sc-dec, 1sc x6] repeat around
27)   [sc-dec, 1sc x5] repeat around

28)   [sc-dec, 1sc x4] repeat around
29)   [sc-dec, 1sc x3] repeat around
30)   [sc-dec, 1sc x2] repeat around

Attach safety eyes before stuffing, stuff the head. Depending on the purpose for the toy you can use some sort of pipe cleaner inside the body to hold the head better. NOTE: if you are making a toy for a child, don’t put anything sharp inside the body, that could harm the child.

41) – 42) sc around

Stuff the body.

Skirt

Join the read yarn the BLO round of the body and do the first row with the front loops of that round. Sc around.
I just came up with the increases as I crocheted along and didn´t really write anything specific down, but I did an increase round and a sc around row in between increase rows from
[2sc, 1scx9] around to [2sc, 1scx12], the stiches didn’t really match, but it didn’t matter. After the increses I started to crochet in hdc instead of sc (just to get the skirt done quicker without increases) and for the last row I just used  simple shell stiches to make a hem.

Legs (make 2)
With brown yarn: ch5, turn, sc to 2nd ch from the hook, sc to end, turn sc to each ch on the other side. (8sc in total)
1)      2sc in each sc
2)      [2sc, 1sc] repeat to end
3)      [2sc, 1sc x2]repeat to end
4)      [2sc, 1sc x3]repeat to end.
5)      In BLO: sc around
6-11) Sc around
12) [sc-dec, 1sc x 2] x 7, sc to end.
13) [sc-dec, 1sc] x7, sc to end.
14) [sc-dec] x 7, sc to end
15-16) Sc around
17) 1sc x 8, sc-dec, sc to last 3 sc, sc-dec, 1 sc (In BLO, change colour)
sc around 21 rows

Finish off the yarn and stuff the legs, sew to the body.

Hands

Ch2, 7sc to 2nd ch from the hook.
1)      2sc in each sc
2)      [2sc, 1sc] repeat to end
3)      – 9) sc around
10)   sc-dec, 1sc x 5
11)   sc-dec, 1sc x4
12)   – 13) sc around
14)   change colours and sc around
sc around for 25 rows.

Finish off with the yarn and stuff the arms, sew to the body. (I placed the arms between the last colourful stripes)

Ears (make 2) with body colour

Ch 2, 5sc to 2nd ch from hook

1)      2sc in each sc
2)      Sc around
Cut off yarn and pull through the stich

Nose

Ch2, 4sc to 2nd ch from the hook
1)      2sc in each sc
2)      Sc around
3)      sc around

Finish off the yarn, stuff the nose very lightly

Sew the head to the body, stuff the neck well. Stuff arms and legs and sew them in place. Sew the nose and ears and embroider a mouth. Finish off all the yarn endings. I did long hair for my doll with individual hair strands inserted to the head, but I guess any hairstyle really goes (hair cap e.g)

You can make the body and arms and legs with only the body colour, I was thinking of doing that and then sew clothes separately, but I didn't have enough yarn for that.
